9. When affection becomes something moreIt take one to make an ‘I’ but two to make an ‘us’.“I’m Stargaze,” she said cheerfully in a sing-song voice as she skipped merrily over.
There was a positive aura about her and I was instantly drawn towards it. As I extended my hand to her, I had a sudden notion that I was going to like her, very much indeed.
She shook my hand firmly and I was taken aback by its coolness. The warm smile she gave me made me smile back.
The pearl on the neck chain Ray had given me glistened mysteriously. It beckoned enticingly as I felt the butterflies flutter in my stomach.
Standing by the stairway, I tried to wait patiently. The wait was nerve racking and I avoided the jitters by clinging on to what had happened right after history class.
Stargaze. That was her name.
“Cool name,” I had responded automatically. Not realizing how, her presence made me felt at ease and her chatty nature chewed away at my stolid mask. It wasn’t long before her candid and raucous attitude compelled me to converse with her, as if she was a long-lost friend.
My train of thought was punctured abruptly when someone tapped me on the shoulder.
“Hi,” he said.
The radiant smile suffused across his face made my cheeks hot.
“You were waiting for me?” he asked carefully, yet teasingly. I could sense under the layered mask of mock seriousness, there was a note of uncertainty in his voice, as if he was unsure of the answer.
“Does it look like there’s someone else?” I asked pointedly.
That smile again. My heart melted instantly. I was such a besotted fool. As I stared, captivated by his face, I tried to discern what he was saying. It sounded like a lyrical melody, and I was wrapped up by the timeless notes, in a daze.
“Do you mind a trip to my house?” he inquired, as his lips curved up slightly, revealing his pearly whites.
“House…” I murmured, my brain momentarily coming to a crawl and it was suddenly incapable of processing anything.
My mind dawdled as I blinked twice. What had he just asked?
“Do you mind coming over to my house?” he reiterated politely.
“Of course!” I answered a bit too earnestly, the plain enthusiasm was apparent.
“Like now?” he queried.
Yes! I nodded my head frantically, hoping he would not change his mind. While he deliberated, I continued to be mesmerized. He seemed to be considering something as he eyed me. I tried to decipher the look he passed me; it was unfathomable.
I followed closely behind him as we left the school compound. We were headed far east, somewhere along the coast. The wind whipped at my hair as I fought to keep the dreaded bangs in place. He moved silently and steadily, familiar with the surroundings. I watched him move in awe, admiring his gait and the cool picture he portrayed. As the pace lengthened, it felt like time had came to a standstill. The scene around me had changed whilst we walked. I had been oblivious to it till now.
“Here we are,” he announced as he halted and whirled around.

Any one will do, its your choice.
My awesomeness can't be contained in such a teeny-weeny box because i'm sensational.
Yes, I'm loved, bayy-beh. I blog about everything under the sun and anything that's the past, present and the future. My profile page is non-existent, because its not long enough.
